Honda recalling approximately 1,800,000 vehicle for safety concern

Honda Motor Company is recalling nearly 1,800,000 vehicles globally, including 1.4 million vehicles in the United States, in a series of recalls for issues related to reported fires, a programming flaw, and the possible breakage of the front drive shaft.

The first recall related to potential fires applies to certain 2002-2006 CR-Vs to replace the power window master switches. Honda said there had been no reported injuries, but 16 fires reported related to the issue. Honda is also recalling numerous 2018-2020 Accord, Accord Hybrid and 2019-2020 Insight vehicles to update the Body Control Module software. A programming flaw could disrupt communications in the vehicle causing the illumination of several warning lights and the potential malfunction of electronic components.

Additionally, Honda is recalling about 430,000 2012 Honda Civic Hybrids, 2007-2014 Honda Fits, 2013-2015 Acura ILXs, 2013 Acura ILX Hybrids and 2013-2015 Honda Accords in 22 states and the District of Columbia with significant road salt use to inspect and potentially replace front drive shafts due to possible breakage of the drive shafts as a result of corrosion. However, the parts are not currently available for the vehicles involved in the recall. No injuries have been reported in relation any of the recalls, the company said.
