Ford Recalls Taurus, Edge, and Explorer Vehicles Due to Crash Risk

The Ford Motor Company has issued a recall for 15,587 vehicles because of a part failure that may increase the crash risk while driven or parked. The faulty part, called a link shaft bracket, has been shown to fracture from normal vibrations caused by driving due to a design flaw.

Once the link shaft bracket has fractured, the driver may be unable to put the vehicle into park. This can cause the vehicle to roll away. The fractured part can also cause the engine to lose power while in motion. Both scenarios may increase the chances of a collision, hence the recall.
