Hyundai Issues Second Recall for 2018 Santa Fe Models Due to Potential Engine Fires

Hyundai Motor America is recalling almost 45,000 2018 Santa Fe Sports because of a fire risk in the engine. Hyundai said the ABS module can malfunction and cause a short over time, which may lead to an engine compartment fire. The issue can occur when the vehicle is parked or in motion.

Although no injuries have been reported, Hyundai is aware of four fires in the 2018 Santa Fe Sport. The company is working on a fix but recommends parking these models outside and away from buildings for the time being.

This second recall follows a similar recall issued in February of this year. The previous recall involved roughly 360,000 vehicles, including the 2016-2018 Santa Fe, 2017-2018 Santa Fe Sport, 2019 Santa Fe XL, and 2014-2015 Tucson.
