Ford and Lincoln SUVs Recalled Due to Brake Concerns

Ford has recently announced that it will recall approximately 488,594 Ford Edge and Lincoln MKX SUVs because of brake concerns. The brake lines may leak fluid and cause the driver to experience a greater brake travel pedal. This longer distance traveled results in reduced braking performance.

The issue occurs due to ruptures in the flexible front brake hose, which in turn allows brake fluid to leak out.

Ford notes that if the brake fluid decreases to a certain level, it can result in a brake warning light illuminating. The company is not aware of any injuries or accidents relating to this issue.

Specific Vehicles Recalled

The specific vehicles that are included in this recall are:

  • 2015-2018 Ford Edge vehicles that were built at Oakville Assembly Plant from June 25, 2014, to December 21, 2017.
  • 2016-2018 Lincoln MKZ vehicles that were built at the same plant from November 11, 2014, to December 21, 2017.

The National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s campaign number is 20V469000 and Ford’s recall number is 20S42.
