Nissan Announces Safety Recall For Infiniti And Pathfinder

Nissan has issued a safety recall for 1997 – 2003 Infiniti QX4 models and 1996 – 2004 Nissan Pathfinder models. The recall addresses potentially damaged and corroded strut housing towers that could cause the steering column to break and applies to nearly 200,000 vehicles. Per the recall, the Nissan or Infiniti dealer may repair or replace the defective part(s), but in some instances, the damage may be irreparable. For vehicles which cannot be repaired, Infiniti has instructed its dealers to not release the vehicle back to the customer and Infiniti will then “negotiate” with the customer over the value of the vehicle. The recalled Pathfinders and QX4s were originally sold in Connecticut, Delaware, Iowa, Illinois, Indiana, Massachusetts, Maine, Maryland, Michigan, Minnesota, Missouri, New Hampshire, New Jersey, New York, Ohio, Pennsylvania, Rhode Island, Vermont, Washington, D.C., West Virginia and Wisconsin – cold weather states which use road salt.
