Hundreds of consumers have reported to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration that their Kia vehicle has spontaneously caught fire. 91 of the complaints involve the 2011 to 2014 Optimas and Sorentos . Many of those vehicles already had an unrelated engine defect recall issued. NHTSA’s review of the complaints has been limited to the recalls already in place, although consumer groups are calling on the agency to conduct a more thorough investigation.
