Mercedes-Benz 2018 S Class Vehicle Recall

Recently, Mercedes-Benz USA announced a recall for 1,701 of their S class vehicles. This includes 2018 Mercedes-Maybach S560s & S560 4Matics & Mercedes S450s 4Matic, S450, S560, S560 4Matics, and S560 Coupe 4Matics. If you are affected, Mercedes-Benz is providing a solution.

Ultimately, the recall is due to the electrical power bars inside the pre-fuse box within the trunk having not been secured properly.  When the power bars are not properly secured, higher electrical resistance is common. With this higher resistance comes greater risk of fire.

There is also an increased likelihood of intermittent contact between the power bars, which could lead to a loss of vehicle functions. Potential issues could involve the engine operation, the seat belt, and the instrument cluster. Engine operation is never something to risk losing the function of, nor is seat belt operation. The Mercedes power bar issue increases the possibility of a car accident, which is why it is important to take care of the problem now.

Fortunately, Mercedes-Benz is currently able to solve the power bar issue. MBUSA will notify owners, and dealers will be able to inspect and replace the pre-fuse box for free.

Owners are able to contact MBUSA customer service at 1-800-367-6372.
