Honda Recalling Over 2.2 Million Vehicles Due To Airbag Problems

Honda is recalling 2.2 million vehicles from their Honda and Acura lines because the Takata air bags used for the driver’s side can rupture when deployed. If the air bags rupture, they can send debris into the vehicle cabin, possibly injuring or killing the occupants.

The recall includes older model years dating back as far as 2005, as well as some 2015 and 2016 models. Honda says replacement parts will not be available until late summer 2016 ad has told dealers to provide loaner cars for free to any customer who asks for one while waiting for repairs. The Honda recall joins several other recalls involving air bags made by Takata. The total number of recalled vehicles with the same issue has reached nearly 24 million.
