Ford Recalls 550,000 Fusions And Escapes Due To Risk Of Roll Away

Ford Motor Company is recalling approximately 550,000 2013-2016 Fusion sedans and 2013-2014 Escape SUVs because of a transmission defect. The part that attaches the cable shifter to the transmission can fall off. If that happens, the driver can shift into park, but the vehicle could still be in another gear causing the vehicle to roll. Ford has not reported any injuries or crashes resulting from this problem, but is advising owners to use the parking brake.
