Ford Recalls 350,000 Vehicles Due To Transmission Problem

Ford Motor Company is recalling nearly 350,000 trucks and SUVs, due a defect in the vehicles’ transmission. The vehicles might be in a different gear than what is shown on the shift indicator. The affected vehicles are 2018 F-150s and Expeditions with 10-speed automatic transmissions. 2018 F-650s and F-750s with 6-speed transmissions are also included in the recall.

Ford says that on some vehicles, a clip that locks the gear shift cable to the transmission might come loose. Due to the problem, a driver might be able to shift into park and remove the key while the transmission is in another gear, allowing unintended movement. That can increase the risk of an accident. Ford says it knows of one crash and one injury due to the problem.
