Beginning May 22, 2020, Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) recalled 318,537 vehicles due to a lingering backup camera image which may pose a dangerous distraction to drivers. Though the company stated that it is unaware of any crashes or injuries caused by this issue, an image that lingers longer than 10 seconds is not compliant with federal motor vehicle guidelines. FCA is thus recalling all affected models in order to update the relevant software.
Which Models are Affected?
All affected vehicles are built with 8.4-inch or 12-inch radio displays:
- 2019 Dodge Challenger coupes
- 2019-2020 Ram 1500, Ram 2500, and Ram 3500 pickups
- 2019-2020 Jeep Grand Cherokee, Jeep Wrangler, and Jeep Renegade SUVs
- 2019-2020 Dodge Durango SUVs
- 2019-2020 Chrysler Pacifica minivans
- 2020 Jeep Gladiator and Jeep Cherokee

Chrysler customer service can be reached at 1-800-853-1403 for any questions or concerns regarding this recall (recall number W30-W37). If it’s confirmed that your vehicle is impacted by the recall, the necessary software update can be made over the air or at your local Chrysler dealership free of charge.
