Ram Recalls Over 100,000 Vehicles for Fire Risk

Fiat Chrysler Automobiles (FCA) is recalling 107,898 diesel pickup trucks due to small cracks that are developing in an emissions system, some of which can cause fires. There are four reported injuries due to the development of these microscopic cracks, as owners tried to put out the fires on their own and ultimately became injured while doing so. They’re located in the exhaust-gas recirculation coolers in the 2014-2019 Ram 1500 trucks. This cooler typically helps reduce tailpipe pollutants in diesel-powered vehicles.

The Fix

FCA will contact owners directly to let them know where they can go to a dealer to receive service. If you’re an owner of one of the affected vehicles, you can also reach your dealer by dialing 800-853-1403, the FCA customer-service line. If you’re unsure whether or not your vehicle has been impacted by this recall, you can also plug your VIN into the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s website.
