Ford Recalls 2020 Escape, Explorer and F-Series Vehicles

Ford owners should be aware of a recent recall regarding the 2020 Ford Escape, Explorer and 2019 F-Series Super Duty models, each revolving around separate issues. The 2020 Escape was also added to a prior recall notice.

The Ford Explorer

The 2020 Explorer’s recall is about improperly secured wiring harnesses, specifically impacting the secured wiring harnesses. Specifically, models fitted with the 2.3-liter turbo-four or 3.3-liter V6 engines are impacted. If the SUV has one of the bad wiring harnesses, it could rub against the AC pulley, damaging the harness or the AC drive belt. Worst case scenario, this malfunction can expose the wiring harness to an unfused circuit, resulting in a short circuit or even a fire. Most of the impacted vehicles still remain at the dealership and will be fixed before they are sold.

The Ford Escape

The 2020 Ford Escape recall has been added to a previous recall that included multiple Ford models. The recall was issued on August 30th and revolved around missing components to reinforce the strength of the seatback. This recall impacts the F-150, F-Series Super Duty, previous-generation Explorer, the 2020 Explorer, Expedition and Lincoln Aviator. About 9,350 Escape models are now part of the same recall. Again, most impacted vehicles remain at the dealership and will be repaired before they sell.

The 2019 F-Series Super Duty

The final vehicle that is involved in this recall regards passenger-side axle shafts that may have been manufactured with low-quality steel, possible fracturing and leading to a loss of power while in two-wheel drive mode. The impacted trucks may roll away if the parking brake isn’t properly applied.
