Mazda Recalls Nearly 190K Cars

Mazda has issued a recall for nearly 190,000 cars due to faulty windshield wipers. Mazda says the defect was caused by metal deposits that can cause the relays in the wipers to stick, halting the wipers altogether and potentially obstructing the driver’s visibility in the event of bad weather.

In the event of adverse weather conditions, faulty windshield wipers can obstruct the driver’s view of the road and result in accident and injury.

Cars Affected

The cars affected by this recall include Mazda 3 compact cars, with models ranging between model years 2016 and 2018. Mazda claims no accidents or injuries have resulted from this defect.

Mazda has been notifying customers of recalled vehicles since June 3, and dealers will continue to replace the front wiper control module at no cost to the owner. If you are unsure if your vehicle has been affected, you can visit the Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s website and enter your VIN number to see if it is a faulty model.
