If you have a 2006-2013 Lexus IS 350 convertible, a 2010-2014 IS 350C sedan, a 2007-2011 GS 350 sedan and GS 450 hybrid sedans, all equipped with a 3.5-liter gas V-6 engine, your car could be on a recall list. Approximately 115,000 cars total were affected in a June 2018 recall.

Lexus’ official recall statement says “the diaphragm material in the fuel pulsation dampers in this engine may harden over time and crack, causing fuel to leak. A fuel leak in the presence of an ignition source can increase the risk of a vehicle fire.”

How Lexus is Remedying the Situation

Lexus will be replacing the fuel delivery pipe with a new-and-improved version that contains “improved pulsation dampers.” The replacement will be performed free of charged.

In early August, owners began receiving notifications via mail to inform them of the recall if their car was part of the recall. If you have not heard about your car but you want to ensure it is not part of the recall, you can call Lexus directly at 800-255-2987. You can also call the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s vehicle-safety hotline at 888-327-4236 or visit their website and check your vehicle identification number to learn more information.
