Hyundai Recalls Almost 100,000 Additional Vehicles for Potential Catastrophic Engine Defects

Hyundai is recalling nearly 100,000 vehicles for engine defects which can lead to fires. The current recall applies to the Sonata and Tucson models.

Engine failures and fire problems have been an issue for Hyundai for over five years, affecting more than 8 million vehicles. This current recall addresses a defective rod bearing used in the 2017 model year. Customers will receive a notice from Hyundai to have their vehicle inspected by adealer. Those with defective internal components will have the engines replaced free of charge.
