John D. Barker

John Barker is a nationally recognized consumer protection trial attorney who has devoted more than two decades exclusively to representing individuals in complex, high-stakes litigation against manufacturers and corporate defendants. Licensed since 2001, Mr. Barker has built a distinguished career grounded in strategic advocacy, disciplined preparation, and courtroom execution.

He earned his Juris Doctor from Indiana University School of Law – Indianapolis, where he was inducted into the Order of the Barristers, an honor reserved for those demonstrating exceptional skill in trial advocacy and oral argument.

Mr. Barker is admitted to practice in Indiana, Illinois, California, Texas, and Missouri, as well as numerous federal courts, including the Northern and Southern Districts of Indiana; the Northern, Central, Eastern, and Southern Districts of California; and the United States Court of Appeals for the Tenth Circuit. His multi-jurisdictional admissions reflect both depth of experience and trusted authority across state and federal forums.

Since 2018, Mr. Barker has been selected annually as a Super Lawyer by Thomson Reuters — a distinction limited to a small percentage of attorneys in each state and awarded based on peer recognition, professional achievement, and independent research. Sustained year-after-year selection underscores not only excellence in results, but enduring respect within the legal community.

As a managing attorney at Krohn & Moss, Ltd., Mr. Barker dedicates his practice entirely to consumer litigation. He has tried more than thirty-five cases to verdict in jury and bench trials and has successfully handled every phase of litigation, including dispositive motion practice, complex mediation strategy, court-ordered arbitration, and appellate advocacy.

Mr. Barker has successfully conducted and resolved hundreds of mediations nationwide and has deposed and defended experts and clients across the country. His experience includes presenting technical and damages experts, preparing clients for high-stakes examination, and strategically challenging opposing expert testimony. This multi-state deposition and expert practice reflects both the scope and sophistication of his litigation portfolio.

Among his most significant achievements, Mr. Barker successfully represented a consumer before the Indiana Supreme Court in Hyundai Motor America v. Sandra Goodin, 822 N.E.2d 947 (Ind. 2005) — a landmark decision that materially strengthened warranty protections and reshaped consumer rights in Indiana. The decision continues to influence consumer litigation statewide.

For more than two decades, Mr. Barker has stood at the forefront of consumer protection litigation — combining trial readiness, strategic precision, and uncompromising advocacy to hold manufacturers accountable and protect the rights of consumers nationwide.
