Potential Auto Lemon Law Case For 2016-2017 Chevrolet Malibu Owners

check engine light on potential lemon Chevy Malibu 2016 2017General Motors has recently initiated an investigation involving the check engine light illuminating in 2016-2017 Chevrolet Malibu vehicles that may be accompanied by other engine related problems such as reduced engine performance or the engine running rough. Specifically, General Motors’ Technical Service Bulletin # PIP5535 states that despite the latest programming being installed in the engine control module for the vehicle that a malfunction indicator light indicating engine problems may illuminate. Unfortunately, this Technical Service Bulletin does not provide clear guidance to General Motors’ dealers on how to remedy the situation. Rather, the Bulletin states that “General Motors is currently evaluating this concern.”

If your vehicle has experienced this serious engine problem you are not required to wait and hope that General Motors will come up with a solution to repair the vehicle. Rather, federal law requires only that you reported the condition to General Motors through its dealers and that you provided General Motors’ dealers with a “reasonable opportunity” to repair your vehicle. If you have experienced this condition, or any other defective conditions with your vehicle, we may be able to help you bring a “Lemon Law” or “Breach of Warranty” claim against General Motors for a refund of your money paid, a replacement vehicle, or for monetary compensation.
