Over 460,000 Vehicles Recalled Due to Software Glitch

General Motors is recalling certain sedans and pickup trucks due to an increased crash risk caused by malfunctioning safety software. Reports indicate that the software glitch is causing the electronic stability control and antilock brake systems to become suddenly disabled. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, the ESC and ABS malfunction lights may not illuminate when these systems cut out.

Which Models are Affected?

The specific models affected include certain 2019 Cadillac CT6 sedans, Chevrolet Silverado 1500 pickup trucks, and GMC Sierra 1500 pickup trucks. GM dealerships will be responsible for reprogramming the vehicle’s Electronic Brake Control Module at no cost to the customer, rectifying the root issue. If you believe your car may be included in this recall, you can verify by checking the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration’s website. Enter your 17-digit identification (VIN) number to determine if there is a recall currently issued for your vehicle.
