There are two Subaru recalls impacting both Subaru Crosstrek and Impreza drivers. A total of roughly 466,205 late-model Crosstrek and Impreza vehicles have been recalled due to engine-related issues. Power could continue to the ignition even after the engine has been shut off, potentially resulting in a short circuit and blown fuse. If this short circuit happens while the car is in use, it poses a threat to both the people in your vehicle as well as those in surrounding vehicles.

What Cars Are Impacted?

The first recall impacts 2017-2019 Imprezas and 2018-2019 Crosstreks. The second recall impacts 2017-2019 Imprezas but only 2018 Crosstrek vehicles. These vehicles have Positive Crankcase Ventilation valves that have the potential to fall apart, resulting in debris filling the engine. This could cause a loss of power even while the vehicle is in operation. While there are no reported incidents due to these problems, Subaru is recalling these vehicles as a safety precaution to its drivers.

The recall began on December 13th, and Subaru will notify vehicle owners if their vehicle needs to be inspected. You can also have your VIN prepared to see if your vehicle is affected.
