Due to a potential stalling issue, Honda is recalling 437,000 vehicles. The affected vehicles include Acura MDX SUV’s, Acura TLX V6 cars, and Honda Accord V6 cars. In a nutshell, the gasoline flow from fuel pumps could slow to the point where the car is stalled. When a car stalls, the increase of an accident increases.

More specifically, there is presence of sodium particles in some gasolines, and these particles can cause the fuel pump to slow down. The flow of gasoline is reduced, which harms acceleration and could lead to the car stalling entirely. The issue is most likely to happen when the vehicle is being operated in areas with high ambient temperatures, and Honda has stated that the stalling issue has happened mainly in southern states during the summer.

However, Honda has stated that they are not aware of any crashes or injuries that are directly related to the stalling problem. For those affected by the recall, dealers will be able to update the software that controls the fuel pump at no charge to the owners. They will also be able to replace the fuel pump if this is necessary.

If you believe you have purchased or leased a vehicle under this recall, you can call Honda at 888-234-2138, and their number for the recall is N3X. Honda will begin notifying owners in late March of 2019.
