GM Recalls Vehicles Due to Noncompliant Seat Belts - Your Lemon Law Rights®

Call Now For a FREE Case Review:

Approximately 16,000 General Motors vehicles have been recalled, including SUVs and hatchbacks due to rear seat belt retractors that do not properly lock when a child seat is installed. The seat belt retractors help keep the belt taut and reels it back when the belt is unbuckled. When the belts are pulled out, the faulty retractors may not lock, which means the child seat cannot be secured properly. Seat belt retractors that lock when the belts are fully extended is a federal requirement for new vehicles.

At-Risk Vehicles

This recall pertains to 2018 and 2019 model year vehicles; specifically, the Chevrolet Suburban, GMC Yukon XL, Cadillac Escalade, Cadillac CT6 and Chevrolet Volt. Many of the affected vehicles are still in dealer inventory, so GM issued for its dealers to stop selling the affected vehicles.

The faulty retractors may be located in second or third row seat belt assemblies depending on the vehicle that is affected.
