Volvo Recall Due to Software Error

Volvo is recalling many vehicles built between November 2018 and March 2020 due to a safety-related software update. Over 120,000 vehicles from the 2019 and 2020 model years have automatic emergency braking (AEB) systems with pedestrian detection that may not recognize obstacles. The new hardware for the AEB system may not be compatible with the software that was installed on vehicles built before March 2020. This could result in a crash that ultimately could have been prevented.

Volvo reports that there are no accidents or injuries as a result of this issue.
