Porsche Issues Two Recalls Due to Brake and Fuel-Leak Concerns

Porsche is issuing two different recalls that impact roughly 28,500 total vehicles, including sedans, sport cars, and SUVs due to issues surrounding warning lights and fuel leaks.

The first recall impacts 2017-2019 Cayenne SUVs and Panamera sedans. It is possible that drivers will not be warned as they should be when brake pads have worn out. This may result in a crash. In order to correct the problem, dealers are updating the instrument cluster software free of charge.

In a separate recall, Porsche is also recalling roughly 14,388 vehicles, specifically the 718 Boxster and 718 Cayman sports cars, due to a piece of the luggage compartment bracket that may detach if there is a crash. This may result in a fuel leak, which raises the risk of a fire starting. According to the National Highway Traffic Safety Administration, a leak was discovered in February during a frontal crash test. Porsche will notify owners and dealers will perform the fix free of charge.
